Ryan Proctor

Who is Ryan Proctor?

I’m a husband, brother, barista. I’m a hard worker that appreciates good people, kinda old fashioned at times as well.

What is your favourite childhood memory?

When my brothers and I were younger had bunk beds. I remember one day one of the pieces of wood at the side had come off so we pulled the sheet down to the floor, put our toy boxes at each corner and used it as a slide. For at least a good hour we were sliding from the top bunk to our bedroom floor.

If you could have a do-over in life, what would you do differently?

Honestly, I don’t think I would do anything differently. Where I am right now is where I want to be. Every mistake has been a learning curve and has brought me to this point in my life and as cliché as it sounds, I wouldn’t change it for the world.

What do you feel most proud of?

The life that I’ve so far built for myself. At 22 I can say that I have experienced more than most 50 year olds. My life has had so far, more downs than ups but I have a woman I can call my wife, a full time job, a roof over my head and good mental and physical health. I look back sometimes at my life and think it could have turned out so differently.

If you could keep only 3 possessions, what would they be and why?

My headphones, which would be attached to my phone. Does that count as one? My wallet, not for the money- I just have some really special keepsakes in there. A picture of my mum.

What do you want your tombstone to say?

My best days are ahead of me.

What is Brothers Brew?

My biggest passion is coffee and recently, like very recently, my brother and I started our very own coffee blog, Brothers Brew. We’re both very enthusiastic about the coffee industry and we hope, through our blog to raise more awareness and kind of establish ourselves as well. We both have career goals of opening our own shop someday…

What is your favourite kind of coffee?

A natural Ethiopian brewed through a v60.

In which coffee shops are we likely to bump into you?

My local is actually 20 odd miles away, but I’m all about travelling for the good stuff. It’s a coffee shop/restaurant called ‘Townsquare.” In saying this though, my favourite would have to be Middletown Coffee Co., which is about 40 miles away. The vibes are good, the coffee is great.

What does a perfect day look like?

A perfect day for me would start with poached eggs and potato bread accompanied with a black filter. I’d then head to the gym or go for a walk. Come back, have lunch with my wife. We would then grab our cameras and head out somewhere for an adventure – probably the Mourne Mountains and hopefully fill up on coffee along the way. The day would end with a steak dinner and some PlayStation.
